Learning astrology is a life long journey
As a young person, I was fascinated by the idea that we could gain information about ourselves from studying the planetary placements at our time of birth. Limited access to astrological material had me curious but non-committal. Time and many unfulfilling jobs later, I finally realized that I could no longer dismiss the desire to dive into a world that went beyond what I currently believed to be true.
Starting around 1996, my reading selection shifted from fiction to nonfiction and consisted of topics such as, spiritual philosophy, the power of the mind, and astrology. In 2015, I took action and booked my first reading with a professional astrologer. I assumed the study of astrology would be my next step, but instead I was pulled towards Reiki, the study of life force energy. I dutifully studied all levels in the system of Reiki, opened a Reiki practice, and became a teacher and practitioner of Reiki. The energetic system of Reiki taught me much but astrology still called.
My first experience with astrology was through the modern lens, this perspective although accurate, wasn’t what I wanted. In 2020, I enrolled in the Nightlight Astrology, Level One course and started my journey learning traditional astrology. I continued to complete level Two, Readings and Passages, and Horary. In addition to my core astrology training, I have also trained with and taken multiple online courses, plus received readings with several skilled and experienced astrologers.
Although I am considered a young astrologer, I have already experienced my second Saturn return. Which, for me, allows a greater perspective of time and how we manage the passage of time. As wisdom and maturity has found its way into my life, I have little room left for judgement of myself or others. At the end of the day, life is about experiences, whether they are challenging, or uplifting, these experiences help shape us into the best version of ourselves we can be.
As Maya Angelou said, ““Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
